Aviva MyDrive

We expect 85% of eligible customers to get a discount at renewal (Terms apply). Discount excludes optional extras

What is Aviva MyDrive?

Aviva MyDrive is a new feature of the MyAviva app that could give you a discount off your motor insurance renewal – simply by driving safely.

It detects how you’re driving, shows where you can improve, and serves up bite-size guidance and advice to help you do just that. The safer you drive the better your driving scores will be and the less you could pay when you renew. We won't use your personal driving scores as a reason to give you a higher price.

MyDrive is only available if you have an Aviva Online or Aviva Premium motor insurance policy (policy numbers starting with a 72).

How it works

  1. If you haven’t already, you’ll need to register for MyAviva. Then download the MyAviva app and sign-up for MyDrive. When you sign-up, you'll need to allow certain permissions so MyDrive can work properly.
  2. Have your phone with you every time you drive. There’s no need to do anything else as MyDrive runs in the background and automatically records all your journeys.
  3. For every journey you take, you're given a driving score out of 100 and a breakdown of the five driving behaviours that make up that score – braking, acceleration, cornering, speed, and phone distraction. You'll also get a colour rating for each journey and driving behaviour – either red, amber, or green – so you can see how safely you’re driving.
  4. Plus, compare your latest driving score with your previous one, discover how many miles you’ve done, how many hours you’ve driven for, and the total number of journeys you’ve made.
  5. Based on the data it collects, MyDrive will also show you how you can improve your driving by serving up bite-size guidance and advice.

Grab a renewal discount

With MyDrive, the safer you drive the less you could pay when you renew your Aviva Online or Aviva Premium motor insurance with us.

To be eligible for a potential renewal discount you must:

  • Use MyDrive for at least 60 days (starting from your first journey).
  • Drive a minimum of 400 miles. These miles don't have to be completed in the 60 days – you can take longer.
  • Tick off the 60-day and 400-mile requirements 33 days before your renewal date (because that's when we work out your renewal price). For example, if your renewal date is 1 January, you'll need to have completed these requirements by 29 November to be eligible for a discount.

When it's time to work out your renewal price, we'll look at your driving scores and colour ratings and may offer you a discount on your renewal price.

We expect 85% of eligible customers to get a discount at renewal (Terms apply). This discount excludes optional extras.

Improve your driving

For every journey you take using MyDrive, you’ll get an overall driving score and driving behaviours breakdown. You’ll be able to see all your journey details and a map view pinpointing where your driving could improve.

Compare how you’ve done

Plus, check out how you’ve driven this week compared to how you did the week before. Then discover guidance in the form of useful hints, tips and information to help improve your driving and potentially bump up your driving scores and colour ratings.

What MyDrive measures

For every journey you take, MyDrive records information about these five driving behaviours.

Speed

Cornering

Acceleration

Braking

Phone distraction^

^If you use your phone while driving, MyDrive may record this as distracted driving.
