Did you know that you can add optional covers?

You can find more details about optional covers and what is and isn’t covered in your policy document in MyAviva.
These optional covers may not be available for AvivaPlus policies.
Protected No Claim Discount
If you've not made a claim for 5 years or more, you can select this cover to protect your no claim discount on your home insurance policy.
If you select Buildings protected no claim discount, you can make two claims in a five year period without losing your no claim discount. If you make a third claim during that period your will lose your discount.
If you select Contents protected no claim discount, you can make two claims in a five year period without losing your no claim discount. If you make a third claim your discount will be reduced and if you make a fourth claim you will lose all of your discount.
This option is only available to add from the renewal date of your policy.
Accidental Damage cover for buildings
Choose from the following accidental damage options for your building:
None – select this if you don’t need specific accidental damage cover for your building. You’ll still be covered for damage caused by things like fire, storm, and flood in our standard policy (see policy for full details).
Limited – covers accidental damage to service pipes and cables, glass in your windows, and sanitary fittings (e.g., baths, shower trays, sinks).
Extra – extends the limited cover outlined above to include accidental damage for the rest of the building (e.g., putting your foot through the ceiling). Extra cover excludes damage caused by paying guests or if your home is lent, let, or sub-let.
Unfortunately, we don’t cover damage caused by faulty items, design or workmanship, or flood water damage (though this is covered separately within buildings cover).
Accidental Damage cover for contents
Choose from the following accidental damage options for your contents:
None – select this if you don’t need specific accidental damage cover for your contents. You’ll still be covered for damage caused by things like fire, storm and flood in our standard policy (see policy for full details).
Limited – covers accidental damage to non-portable home entertainment equipment and mirrors and fixed glass in furniture (e.g., if you break the glass in your coffee table).
Extra – extends the limited cover outlined above to include accidental damage for most contents (e.g., spilling a glass of red wine on your carpet). Extra cover excludes food, stamps, damage caused by paying guests or if your home is lent, let, or sub-let.
Unfortunately, we don’t cover damage caused by faulty items, design or workmanship, or flood water damage (though this is covered separately within contents cover).
Legal Services cover
Expert legal support for you, your domestic partner and any family members living with you. Plus, you get to keep the entire award if you win your case.
We’ll provide a lawyer, if you need one, and up to £100,000 of legal funding to pursue or defend cases in court, such as:
Employment issues like unfair dismissal
Property disputes such as noisy neighbours, boundary disputes, or issues with work carried out on your home by contractors
Consumer disputes for the purchase of goods or other services, like cars bought from a garage, defective kitchens or claims against travel agents
Personal injury from slips and trips that are someone else’s fault, or from operating faulty machinery
Medical negligence including misdiagnosis by a doctor or the removal of a healthy tooth by a dentist
We'll arrange a lawyer to discuss your case with you. And if they believe you're likely to succeed, they'll represent you.
Home Emergency Cover
Home Emergency cover provides you with cover for issues such as loss of heating, plumbing, electrics, and security. It provides up to £1,000 worth of cover per incident for the loss of essential services to your home such as:
Loss of heating and hot water (boiler)
Blocked drains or toilets
Leaking roof
Gas or electricity failure
Smashed windows
Burst internal water pipes
Pest infestation
Loss of your house keys
It will also provide £500 towards a new boiler if yours is beyond economic repair.
The home emergency helpline is open 24/7 every day of the year and there is no excess to pay. You would be able to claim as many times as you need. Making a home emergency claim won’t affect your no claim discount.
Home emergency cover doesn’t provide protection for LPG supplied heating systems or dual-purpose boilers, domestic appliances like dishwashers, normal day-to-day maintenance, or wear and tear.
This plan does not provide an annual boiler service or cover non-emergencies such as leaking taps and faulty electrical sockets.
Personal belongings are items like laptops, tablets, mobile phones, jewellery, clothing, and handbags you may take outside the home.
This cover protects items in and away from the home, worldwide if they’re lost, accidentally damaged or stolen (including from a locked and unattended vehicle if the items were out of sight e.g., in a closed glove box or locked in the boot).
The most we will pay for theft from vehicles (except cycles) is £1,500.
A £2,000 limit applies to single items - Higher valued items need to be added separately. To specify an item over £2000, we would need a description and valuation of the item.
Certain items (irrespective of value) must be named on your policy to be covered, under personal belongings, including contact lenses, hearing aids, specialist sporting equipment and cycles.
However, it won't cover for loss or damage to business tools or equipment, or when electrical items stop working or come to the end of their life.
Pedal cycles
While pedal cycles are covered at home under our standard Contents Insurance, we can provide extra cover for bicycles used by you and your family anywhere in the world.
Select your own level of cover between £300 and £3,500. It does not matter how many bicycles you’d like to insure, just choose the amount that is enough to cover your most expensive bicycle.
Unfortunately, we can’t cover theft of unattended bicycles unless they’re locked in a building or to an object that can’t be moved.
Increased valuables cover (extra cover if you have valuables totalling over £10,000)
Our standard policy includes cover for valuables up to £10,000 in total, with a maximum item value of £2,000. To specify an item over £2000, we would need a description and valuation of the item. Any valuables you specify don’t need to be included when calculating your overall valuables cover total.
Valuables include stamp, coin, or medal collections; pictures and other works of art; items of gold, silver, or any other precious metal; jewellery and watches. You don’t need to include high value contents items such as furniture or TV’s.
Additional valuables – if you have more than £10,000 worth of valuables (not including any that are specified), you need to increase your cover limit.
You need to make sure your valuable limit is included in your overall contents sum insured limit. E.g., if you choose £50,000 contents sum insured and a £10,000 valuables limit, then we’d pay up to £10,000 for valuables – but not pay more than £50,000 overall for your contents and valuables - if your home contents were completely destroyed.
This does not include items you would take away from the property, as these would be covered as personal belongings (please see optional Personal Belongings cover).
