What is landlord insurance?
Our home insurance for landlords covers the cost of rebuilds and repairs to lost rent. If your property's damaged to theft, fire, flooding, or extreme weather, both you and your tennants will be affected - especially if the damage has made the property unsafe or un-secure. Landlord insurance will help you and your tenants get back to normal as quickly as possible.
When you're a landlord, it's more than just a home you have to worry about - it's someone else's home too. And, to keep things flexible, you can choose combined building and contents cover, or take them out seperately.
Benefits of landlord insurance
What does Landlord Insurance cover?
What’s covered
What’s not covered
We can't cover every eventuality. Make sure you understand, and are comfortable with, what isn't covered.
Do you need landlord cover?
If you're a UK landlord and you've got tenants in your property, it's good idea to think about landlord insurance. You don't legally need to have it, but it can definitely be useful to have in place just in case anything unexpected pops up that you need to pay for.
Landlord insurance can give you peace of mind - so if the worst happens, like a fire or storm, your property and contents are covered. You can choose to take out extra accidental cover to protect any fixtures that you own and can't easily move, like mirrors, TVs or speakers, against any accidents.
If you’ve got more than one rental property, never fear — you can cover up to three. If you’ve got more than three, take a turn here and check out our commercial landlord insurance through a broker.
Optional add-ons
Tailor your policy with our add-ons and get extra cover for your home and belongings.
Protected no-claim discount
If you haven't made a claim for 5 years or more, you can protect your no-claim discount.
Accidental damage
We offer two levels of additional protection that can protect your building in case of accidents.
Limited - covers accidental damage to service pipes and cables, glass in your windows, and sanitary fittings (e.g. baths, shower trays, sinks).
Extra - extend the limited cover outlined above to include accidental damage for the rest of the building (e.g. putting your foot through the ceiling). Extra cover excludes damage caused by paying guests or if your home is lent, let or sub let.
