Let us do the detective work

Our free Find and Combine Service can help you track down your old or mislaid pensions, tell you about certain valuable benefits or fees, giving you a wealth of information to help plan towards your retirement. Capital at risk.

What is Aviva's Find and Combine service?

Pension tracing is an easy way of finding your old or mislaid pensions.

Whether it’s going from job to job, moving addresses or changing names, it can be easy to lose track of your previous pensions.

Our Find and Combine service uses whatever information you might have – from old pension numbers to your employment history – to track them down. We'll check them to see if they have certain valuable benefits and charges and update you on what we find.

How it works?

You can ask us to look for any UK pensions you could have or check the details of pensions you know about. Just follow these three simple steps.

Step 1 of 3

Apply online

Give us as much information as you can about where you’ve worked and/or any pensions you might have had. Then we’ll start the hard work to track them down.

Applying online takes around 20 minutes.

Step 2 of 3

Get the details

We'll check for certain benefits, or if there are any charges for moving your pensions. You can see what we check for here. You may need to check for loss of benefits that we don't check for. You'll usually be able to view information online as we receive it.

Step 3 of 3

Decide what to do

Once you've considered all the information, you can decide if bringing your pensions together is right for you. We can combine some or all of your eligible pensions into your existing Aviva Workplace Pension.

Things to think about before using Aviva's Find and Combine Service

If you are thinking about combining your pensions as part of this service it is important to also consider the following:

Combining your pensions could have its benefits

  • There's only one fee
Keeping track of lots of pensions can cost you time and money. Combining your pensions means there's only one fee to pay, which might be less than the combined fees from having several pensions.
  • You could lower your percentage charge
Some pensions may lower the percentage of the fee they charge when more money is invested in them.
  • Simpler to manage
Keep tabs on your progress and gain access to just one set of documents to manage your pension.
  • Planning for the future
A single pension could give you a clearer view of your retirement options and make decisions easier.

Some key considerations before combining your pensions:

  • Charges and exit costs
Before you transfer, check how much your current provider charges and compare that with the charges of the pension you are transferring too, so you're aware of the difference. You also need to consider if your provider charges any exit fees.
  • Pension benefits and guarantees
Check your pensions for valuable benefits like a guaranteed income, the ability to take more than 25% as a tax-free lump sum, loyalty bonuses, life insurance and early access to your savings, as you could lose these by transferring from your existing pensions.
  • You're not guaranteed to be better off
Although bringing all your pensions together can have many benefits, there's no guarantee that you'll be better off in retirement.
  • Employer contributions
If your employer pays into your pension, you'll need to talk to them before transferring, as a transfer may mean they stop paying into it.

More information about pension consolidation

If you already have the details for your past pensions and don’t need them checked, you can choose to transfer them yourself. You’ll need an existing workplace pension with Aviva.
